I’m Giorgia, a Chicago-based documentary filmmaker and educator with nearly a decade of experience in commercial and narrative nonfiction editing. I’ve worked on a wide range of projects including features, shorts, trailers, commercials, and social media campaigns, collaborating with clients including Disney, Walmart, and the University of Chicago.

Most recently, I edited No One Asked You, an award-winning documentary feature that follows the reproductive rights organization Abortion Access Front over five years on the frontlines of the escalating battle over Roe v. Wade. It premiered at DOCNYC in 2023 and has since screened at over 20 festivals nationwide. Vanity Fair wrote, “[No One Asked You] takes abortion out of the abstract ideological shout-fest and humanizes the issue."

In addition to editing, I’ve worn many other hats throughout the years. In 2023, I was a rotoscope artist on Westermann: Memorial to the Idea of Man if He Was an Idea, a 3D documentary feature about the life and work of artist H.C. Westermann, narrated by four-time Academy Award nominee Ed Harris. In 2022, I animated How to Decarbonize a State, a video highlighting the work of WinClimate, an organization using data science to support legislators and advocates working to pass state-level climate policies. In 2020, I color graded Head to Head, a feature documentary about women coping with traumatic changes to their self-image after unexpectedly losing their hair, and Larry from Gary, a short documentary about a dance teacher who continues to inspire students despite his school being shut down by the state. In 2018, I worked as both animator and editor for Radioactive: Stories From Beyond the Wall, a series of community-engaged radio/visual broadcasts centering the voices of those currently incarcerated.

My guiding principles are rooted in embracing nuance, upholding integrity, and continuously expanding my understanding of the world. Outside of the edit bay, I love teaching documentary editing at the Hyde Park Arts Center, volunteering at Chicago Women’s Health Center, weaving textiles, and tap dancing.
